Taboo culture

Looks like the gambling comapnies have been caught on by the likely ban on online gammbling, noted by today’s issue of City AM. Of course there’s a deep vein of taboo culture running through US society as any fool knows. Takes drugs, the prohibitionist drugs policy is fundamentally a matter of taboo not rationality or taclking crime, god forbid. As per gambling. Shucks, I’m getting soo reductive again!

Beautiful People Dot Net

Spotted this para at the end of a BBC piece about the rise and rise of social networking sites: “While most social networking sites do not discriminate, and allow anybody to log on, a few sites have cropped up with a very particular sort of user in mind. Beautiful People’s entry criteria are simple – good looks.”

Yeah, and when you visit the site a lovely looking message says to get lost if you’re not using Internet Explorer. Of course I do exaggerate a tad as it does say in the depth of the text: “If you do not wish to update your browser but would like to continue even though BeautifulPeople will not work as is intended, click here:” Ain’t that beautiful?
