V for Vendetta

I notice V for Vendetta is out on Friday so here’s my usual coincidence-inspired approach:

1. It was launched on 5 November in the US and now in the UK on St Patrick’s. Surely someone should have noticed the Catholic connection?

But if that’s not enough for you, how about the fact that my birthday is the 5th November? Not enough? How about that when I was in Memphis with the BBC that their reporter’s birthday was 17 March?

2. There is a scene using a fountain with figures which I’m sure is shot outside our office in Butler’s Wharf.

3. Natalie Portman, how come she keeps turning up places I’ve been? Like Madrid? OK, maybe that’s a tad lame a coincidence.

By the way there’s some nice storyboard artwork also on the site.

PS: Finally got hold of the film on disk to play on my PSP (aren’t I the tech-fashion victim) on 17 Feb 2007, though only after the flat was broken into and I upgraded my game console thanks to the insurance.

Zen and the art of blogging

Read Terence Blacker’s piece in the Independent yesterday complaining about irresponsible bloggers – “in the blogosphere there is no accountability”. I can see the argument up to a point, but surely blogs are ‘community policed’, where credibility can quickly ebb away? Maybe this is an opportunity for journos and bloggers to get together, as the threat of bloggers was also voiced to me by another journalist recently who expressed anxiety that bloggers are eating away at their livelihood.
